Projects

Here is a partial list of current and recent projects I am or was involved in.

openETCS
Open Proofs Methodology for the European Train Control Onboard System

The project is concerned with the realisation of a new approach to develop the software of safety-critical rail systems. On the example of the software of the onboard unit of the European Train Control System (ETCS), is studies how and with what means an open source solution can be provided. The software shall be developed with free, open tools, and a community shall be set up which completes and further maintains the software. The role of the DLR concerns mainly the aspect of verification and validation.
Funding: openETCS is supported in the ITEA 2 programme.
Duration: July 2012 - June 2015

NGRS-II
Next Generation Railway Systems - TP 1000: Adequate Technology

NGRS-II is a basic research project addressing future concepts and technologies for the rail sector. I am directing the sub-project "Adequate Technology, which works on extending and integrating laboritories for rail test and simulation. Personally, I contribute to the application of model-based testing technologies to rail signalling components.
Funding: NGRS-II is funded by the Helmholtz Society.
Duration: January 2012 - December 2015

NeGSt
Neue Generation Signaltechnik (New Generation Signalling Technics)

One of the goals of NeGSt is a redesign of the standard user interface of electronic interlocking systems. I am involved in developing a test concept for checking conformance of implementations with the standard.
Funding: NeGSt is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economy.
Duration: January 2012 - August 2013
